The Cause - ChildLine

The Team involved in Emergence-SKI include experienced Police Officers who have seen the effects of neglect, abuse and cruelty inflicted on vulnerable children. Anyone seeing and experiencing these effects cannot help to think what can be done to help protect those at risk. With an interest in personal watercraft and a determination to make a real difference Emgergence-SKI was created, with the full backing of Dorset Police and businesses there could be only one cause to support - the NSPCC and ChildLine.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) is the UK's leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children. The Society is independent, non-denominational and non-political, and relies on voluntary donations for 85% of its income. The need for the Society to be financially enabled to raise awareness and funds is clear:

  • 1-2 children die every week in the UK at the hands of their parent or carer
  • A paedophile may abuse over 200 children
  • There are approximately 36,560 children on child protection registers in the UK
  • NSPCC brand statistics
  • 3 million supporters (900,000 active)
  • 1 in 70 people in the UK support the NSPCC as a donor and / or campaigner – association with the NSPCC is likely to have strong resonance with staff, shareholders, and clients alike
  • 98% prompted general public awareness - higher than any other UK charity

" Our responsibility is not just to children, but to all children. Knowing that abuse is preventable, and knowing that there is something that we can do, how will we explain that we had the chance to change the future - and didn't?" John Cleese, NSPCC supporter
