working in support of Childline and the NSPCC

Emergence-SKI is a 14 day challenge around the UK on Sea-Doo personal watercraft. The team are drawn from the Police and other emergency services, who through their work deal with the children as victims. Their experiences with victims has inspired them to do more by drawing attention to the work of the NSPCC and ChildLine and raise much needed funds for the cause. The aims are:

To attempt to safely circumnavigate the UK in 14 days using two Sea-Doo personal watercraft and 2 riders
To use the event as a conduit to raise funds for ChildLine
To use the event to assist in the promotion of the ChildLine / NSPCC helpline
To raise funds by way of Charity Events on the challenge route
To educate and promote the safe and considerate use of PWC
To provide an educational tool in conjunction with the National Curriculum.

Sue/Jo/LP attended the first National Event at Ramsgate
Organised by local Sgt - Rhiannan Simpson - a vintage 999 event at the Marina including old ambulances, fire engines, police vehicles. PCSO's went into local schools to promote ChildLine. Mayors attended and will be handing over fundraising cheques when we return on the 27th September. Rhiannan has now organised a sponsored cycle ride, our meals and accommodation and the skis/boat are all being looked after as well.

Outdoor lifestyle show
Despite the appalling weather, the ES Team with the help of Barnaby Bear, raised awareness and more funds for ChildLine at the Outdoor Lifestyle Show, Wimborne 4-6th July. Exciting news from Susan Henderson, International Clairvoyant & Tarot Reader at the show, revealed that Emergence-SKI would pile in the pounds for ChildLine – according to Barnaby’s Palm!

Dorset Police Blue Light Day & MarinEx
The ES Team had a fantastic day at the Dorset Police Headquarters raising awareness and funds for ChildLine. In excess of 13000 people attended the hugely successful event. The previous day the team attended MarineEx , Weymouth. Thankyou to John for allowing us to attend and to Andy from Skitech for keeping Barnaby amused! A fun day which helped raise even more funds for ChildLine.

You can support us by joining us at one or all of the following events, Saturday 27th September – Team set off from Salterns Marina, Poole. Friday 10th October - Charity 999 Disco & Buffet, Weymouth.
Saturday 11th October – The Return, Tracy Edwards to greet the team, Salterns Marina, Poole and Saturday 18th October – Dinner / Auction, Salterns Marina, Poole. Tracy Edwards will be meeting the team when they return to Poole on 11th October 2008 so why not come down
