The Emergence-SKI Team

Jo Tearall - Assistant Manager, PWC Rider, Medic
Jo has 11 yrs service with Dorset Police and is currently Uniform Response Poole, prior to that 5 yrs Marine Section. Jo is qualified as RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, RYA Advanced Powerboat & Personal Watercraft Instructor, Rescue 3 Swift Water Rescue Technician, Police Coastal Patrol Officer, Police Trainer including protester removal, victim recovery and search. Through police work I have seen how vulnerable children can be and any way that both children and adults can be educated as to how to seek help when it is needed is invaluable. ChildLine provides a necessary service and our event can highlight its accessibility, raise awareness and raise funds to help ensure it continues.

Pete is a powerboat advanced instructor and commercially endorsed Yachtmaster and has a very strong marine career/background. Worked for Weymouth Harbour Authority for 4 years as Berthing Officer and enjoys riding PWC in his spare time. Love all water activities, especially sailing, swimming, scuba diving and surfing! Most of his spare time is spent trying to fit all these activities in, and constantly keeping a watchful eye on the surf report! Currently completing in the final stage a BSc degree in Marine Studies – Ocean Yachting at Plymouth University. Pete has worked for Dorset Police since October 2007. He was a volunteer beach lifeguard for 6 years on Weymouth beach where he often helped out teaching the "rookies" how to lifeguard.

Steve Isaacs - Safety Boat Crew, Medic
Steve has been a member of the Dorset Fire and Rescue Service for 25 years working as an operational officer and a trainer. His work as a Fire Setter Advisor, in which he works with children between 5-18 years who habitually set fires, and his work on SPARC (Safe People and Responsible Communities) links in with the common thread of protecting the vulnerable and raising awareness of ChildLine.
Steve has also been pivotal in the Princes Trust Team Programme assisting over 400 young people through the scheme. He provides a unique insight into the effects of fatigue on this endurance event as Steve is a successful veteren of the 1997 first Atlantic Rowing Challenge. He was also the medic aboard “Pipedream” a 37ft yacht which took part in the 2003 Trans Pacific Yacht Race.

He has previously worked as a Team leader in delivering Princes Trust Team Programmes along with Steve Isaacs, to young persons who may be struggling to find direction in their lives. The programme enables teams of young people, from diverse backgrounds, to work in the community and give them incentives to continue to make a contribution of lasting impact, both to themselves and their communities. Tony's nautical angle is predominantly from a kayaking background which has included whitewater river running and sea surfing. Steve and Tony have crewed together in Kayaking double race events. Due to the unique endurance aspect of this challenge Tony will be providing an additional dimension to the event through dieatary, nutritional and physical conditioning support for all the team leading up to and continuing throughout the actual event.
